“In balance with colours, stones & icons”, exhibition by Annica Johansson
”IN BALANCE WITH COLOURS, STONES & ICONS”
EXHIBITION BY ANNICA JOHANSSON
JULY 8 – AUGUST 21 AT SCANDIC PARK
One artist – three expressions
Coming from the classic school of portrait painting, artist Annica Johansson goes outside the box into an abstract world on the canvas – vibrant and colourful. Stones – we usually refer to them as dead matter, but when put together in perfect balance magic happens. On these paintings the artist plays with our perception of stones, bringing granite and greystone into life in fascinating portraits. A series of paitings on canvas exploring stones put together forming portraits of solid matter. With the same vivrant approach Annica Johansson portays some of our most beloved icons such as Greta Garbo and Ingrid Bergman. Intimate and with a gentle hand Annica presents us her personal view of souls from the past – an emotional encounter!

About the artist
Annica Johansson has been engaged as an artist since 1996. Her workspace studio, once the study room of the director Ingmar Bergman, is located at Gamla Filmstaden in Solna – the Swedish counterpart to Hollywood. The cinematheque ambience at Gamla Filmstaden inspires Johansson in her daily work. Movie stars such as Greta Garbo and Ingrid Bergman began their careers just next door to Johansson, which reflects on a sequence of paintings showing the actresses as movie stars, feminist icons or just as the women they were.
